Big Walk lost gourd: which place to check first
Forgot which puzzle gave you a missing gourd? Use the map-room clue to choose where to check, with player reports and their limits explained.
Start with what the group remembers, not a replay of the puzzle. Check teammates’ hands and bags and the last place the reward was seen. If you have forgotten which puzzle it came from, the map room may help narrow the search: players report that its reward miniatures distinguish completed-but-undelivered rewards from deposited ones. Then check the indicated puzzle’s reward spot and Lost & Found. These are places to inspect, not guaranteed recovery rules.
The reports below concern red puzzle rewards. We reviewed the linked sources on 29 October 2026; we have not tested these behaviors in-game.
Choose the first check from the last known state
| What you know | Check next | Evidence and limit |
|---|---|---|
| The original puzzle is forgotten | Inspect the map-room miniature, then the reward spot it identifies. | Two separate discussions support this clue; its reliability on every save is untested. |
| The reward was loose when the session ended | Inspect the original puzzle’s reward pillow. If absent, also check Lost & Found. | Reported in the Steam discussion; not a universal respawn promise. |
| Someone was carrying or wearing it | Check Lost & Found, then the original reward spot if empty. | Steam responders agree; a Reddit reply reports a different destination. |
| It was deliberately stored in Lost & Found | Look where the team placed it. | Players report storage persisting across sessions; this is not proof of permanent storage. |
| The miniature has a flag, but the reward seems missing | Check actual tower and green-room slots; compare with the group’s recollection. | One gourd discussion explains the flag and also records a contradictory case. |
The carried-versus-loose checks come from this Steam puzzle-reward discussion. A separate Lost & Found storage report describes deliberately left items remaining there. Neither source establishes a return timer.
Forgotten puzzle: use the map as a clue
Steam responder Sappari specifically recommends the map room when you cannot remember the reward’s source. Independently, commenters in a disappeared-gourd discussion describe a fallen miniature as completed but not submitted. Together, these reports justify inspecting the model before retracing the whole island. The map guide can help you return to an identified area.
The same Reddit thread interprets a flag as a reward placed in a tower or green-room slot. That exact flag interpretation has only this discussion as its source; it is supporting detail, not a proven detector.
Write down the puzzle you think the miniature represents and check that reward spot before choosing another. If the model disagrees with what the group actually deposited, keep both observations. A mismatch is useful information; it is not a reason to declare the reward recovered or the save broken.
Why checking only Lost & Found can fail
The Steam replies consistently distinguish loose rewards from carried ones. However, a reply in the lost “balls” discussion says a held bean returned to its original pillow instead. Other replies there disagree. We infer from the puzzle-reward context that this colloquial account concerns the same kind of object; it is not a controlled comparison. No game version is stated, so the conflict remains unresolved.
An empty first location therefore does not establish permanent loss. Inspect the alternative location and compare notes with whoever last handled the reward. Keep ordinary equipment questions with the gear guide; do not assume every object follows the same persistence rules.
A boxed reward is a different case
The disappeared-gourd poster ended a session holding a still-boxed Deep Well reward before completing its puzzle. Later, the miniature showed a flag, but the poster found no matching deposited reward. Repeated restarts did not resolve that save; a fresh-world experiment behaved differently. In the same thread, cosmicquirk444 separately reports finding a reward on its original pillow. That success does not resolve the original poster’s case or make the boxed-reward experiment a recovery method.
What version 1.6.0 does—and does not—confirm
The official version history says 1.6.0 fixed a challenge-skipping case involving Lost & Found and restarting the server. It names no challenge and gives no general item-persistence rule. It does not say that every missing reward is repaired. This patch is a boundary on older advice, not evidence for applying a restart sequence to the case above.
If the reward is still missing
Record the puzzle, platform, game version, miniature’s appearance, last known item state and the places already checked. Separate what someone remembers from what you can see now. These details make an unresolved report more useful than “the gourd vanished,” especially when the map and physical slots disagree.
- Confirm that the original host is continuing the intended world; the manual explains session rules and the save and host guide explains which host owns progress.
- If the source puzzle is still unknown, make the map-room check your next step. If it is known, inspect that reward spot and compare it with Lost & Found before assuming the puzzle needs replaying.
