Games like Big Walk by group size, Xbox, PS5 and solo
For 5+ players, try PICO PARK 2 or Valheim; both include Xbox friends. For a solo walk, start with A Short Hike.
Start with what your group needs
Before picking the next game, ask who is coming and what they play on. Then ask which part of Big Walk you want to keep: talking, cooperation, exploration or puzzles. These recommendations are editorial judgments based on official descriptions, not a ranking from hands-on testing. Player counts and platforms are sourced facts; unresolved details are marked Unknown.
| Your situation | Start here |
|---|---|
| Two people who want communication puzzles | We Were Here Forever |
| 3–4 people who enjoy finding a way together | PEAK; Deep Rock Galactic for combat, or Lethal Company if horror is welcome |
| 5–6 people | PICO PARK 2 or Human: Fall Flat; R.E.P.O. if the group wants horror |
| 7–8 people | PICO PARK 2 or Human: Fall Flat; Valheim for ongoing exploration and building |
| 9–10 people | Valheim |
| 11–12 people | None of the listed alternatives confirms an online group above 10; only Big Walk itself goes to 12. |
| Someone is on PS5 | We Were Here Forever; PEAK for 2–4; Valheim for a larger group |
| Someone is on Switch / Switch 2 | PICO PARK 2 for Switch; PEAK for 2–4 or Valheim for Switch 2 |
| Someone is on Xbox | PICO PARK 2, Valheim; PEAK for 2–4; We Were Here Forever for a pair |
| Someone wants to play alone | A Short Hike for wandering, Outer Wilds for discovery, Untitled Goose Game for playful interactions |
These groupings use the verified online caps in the comparison below. All sources were read on 2026-10-26 UTC. Solo play, local co-op and modded lobbies do not count as native online multiplayer.

The comparison: check the group size, then the platforms
Checked 2026-10-26 UTC. Game names, player counts and platforms link to their sources. Only confirmed platforms are listed; an omitted platform is Unknown, not a confirmed absence. PC means Windows on Steam; Mac is separate. Switch does not mean a native Switch 2 edition. PS4 versions playable on PS5 are labelled.
Online counts refer to official native modes. “≤” means the cap is confirmed but a separate online lobby minimum is Unknown. Valheim’s 1–10 is its published server range; solo support has its own column. Cross-play needs a supported platform pair, not merely a listing in both stores. Xbox in the table means Xbox Series X|S. “None” means no native online multiplayer. Deep Rock Galactic’s “Limited” means Xbox with Microsoft Store PC; Steam is outside that pool.
5+ players: make room for the whole group
For cooperative puzzles, start with PICO PARK 2. Its developer confirms 2–8 players and cross-play between Steam, Switch and Xbox. It turns coordinated movement into 2D levels. Each remote player needs a copy; check that game versions and server regions match.
For 5–8 people who want physics puzzles, Human: Fall Flat confirms up to 8 online players and solo play. Xbox’s store confirms cross-play between Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10; Steam, PlayStation and Nintendo pairings remain Unknown here. Checked 2026-10-26 UTC.
For a group happy with horror, R.E.P.O. supports up to 6 players and explicitly combines proximity voice with moving physical objects. That cooperation is the reason it belongs here. Expect a different mood from a relaxed walk.
For 9–10 people, the verified choice here is Valheim. Consider it if you want to keep exploring and building together. It is a less direct continuation if shared puzzles were the entire appeal. Check version compatibility before meeting: the October 15 patch 1.0.20 notes warned that a delayed Mac App Store update temporarily prevented cross-play with other platforms. Whether that rollout has since caught up is Unknown in the reviewed sources; check the installed versions before choosing a mixed-store group.
2–4 players: choose the part you want to keep
- Communication puzzles for a pair: We Were Here Forever gives partners different clues to describe to each other. Its Steam listing requires both players to have microphones and an internet connection. It is not a solo option.
- Climbing and finding a route together: PEAK confirms a cap of 4 and proximity chat; Nintendo lists 2–4 online. Solo play is also supported, but our reason to suggest it to a group is the helping and physical mishaps. The October 22 announcement confirms Steam cross-play with PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 through room codes. It mentions more players without giving a higher lobby cap; any cap above the stores’ 4 remains Unknown.
- If horror is welcome: Lethal Company officially caps at 4. Consider it for dividing exploration and extraction tasks; do not plan an unmodded session around modded player counts.
- If you want more combat: Deep Rock Galactic has online co-op for 2–4 and solo support. Team cave exploration is the connection; shooting is a major difference.
If someone is on PS5, Switch or Switch 2
On PS5, try PEAK for 2–4 climbers, or look at We Were Here Forever for a puzzle-solving pair, or Valheim for a larger cross-platform group. For solo discovery, consider Outer Wilds.
For the original Switch, PICO PARK 2 is a cooperative option. For a group needing confirmed Switch 2 support, look at PEAK for 2–4 or Valheim. These Nintendo platforms are listed separately; this guide does not turn backward compatibility into a verified native Switch 2 edition.
If a friend is on Xbox
As checked on 2026-10-26 UTC, Big Walk is not on Xbox. The official FAQ does not list Xbox and says no other platforms are planned; the developer has said it will not release on Xbox.
For a group, start with PICO PARK 2 or Valheim; PEAK is another option for 2–4, with Steam-to-console cross-play; for a puzzle-solving pair, consider We Were Here Forever. Their platform and cross-play sources are in the table. Have everyone name their exact device and store edition before choosing.
Watch the official Deep Rock Galactic cross-play restriction: Xbox can join Microsoft Store PC players, but Steam cannot join that pool. “We are both on PC” is not enough information. This guide does not include PS5 in that cross-play group either.
If one of you wants to play alone
- For a walk and small discoveries: A Short Hike is our first solo pick. The connection is outdoor exploration at your own pace, rather than exchanging clues with teammates.
- For discovering how a world works: Outer Wilds is a solo pick built around observation and exploration. It has no native online multiplayer; multiplayer mods are outside this comparison.
- For more House House humour: Untitled Goose Game supports solo play and local two-player co-op. Its developer explicitly says the two-player mode is not native online play. Streaming through Remote Play Together and similar services is a separate case.
How we checked
Every page below was read on 2026-10-26 UTC. We used developer descriptions and Steam feature lists for counts, solo support and computer platforms, then developer FAQs or console stores for console availability and cross-play pairs. User tags are not player-count evidence. Unconfirmed voice, proximity chat or platform pairs stay Unknown. PEAK and R.E.P.O. explicitly document proximity voice; We Were Here Forever documents its microphone requirement. This list does not promise equivalent chat systems in the other games.

Limits: updates can change player caps, platforms and cross-play pools. Mods, remote-streaming extensions and prices are excluded. The recommendations are editorial judgments; your group’s appetite for horror, combat or survival still matters. These values describe the check date above.
