The short answer
Those two numbers are not a code, they are map coordinates. One player stays by the locked crate on the map; the other walks to 4166/1899 and finds a hidden hold-down switch behind a pile of rocks, which they must keep pressed. While it is held, the crate opens far away and the waiting player takes the gourd.
The single most searched puzzle on this site. It traps people almost never because the reasoning is hard, but because of three very concrete things: no map room, the switch is a hold-down, and one person physically cannot do it.
Before you start
- Red tower cleared and the folding map taken from the map room - without it these digits mean nothing
- 2 players: one holds the switch, one takes the crate
Step-by-step6 steps
- 1
First check you have the folding map
If the red tower is not done and you have never been into the map room, go and do that now - to a player without a map these digits are random noise. The map room is the blue building beside the first radio transmitter.
Faster:This is the number one cause of getting stuck here, so rule it out before anything else.

Find the boards that read 4166 and 1899
Walk around the station cannon puzzle near the red tower and you will find a locked collectable crate with nothing beside it but two boards reading 4166 and 1899. That is the start.
- 3
Leave one player on the crate
The crate is somewhere else, and the instant it opens somebody has to take the gourd. So one player stands by it waiting - you cannot both walk away.
- 4
The other player walks the coordinate
Open the folding map and go to 4166 / 1899. It sits in the south-centre of the map, against the red train line, which is to say near the broken train on the road to the green tower.
Schematic: how to read a coordinate. 4166 means vertical line 41, 1899 means horizontal line 18, and their intersection is the target cell. - 5
Look behind the rocks for the disguised switch
When you reach the coordinate, do not sprint - find the rock pile first and walk around it looking from several angles. The switch is stuck to the side of a rock and blends into the terrain. This is the single most common "I thought the game was bugged" moment.
Faster:Once you arrive on the coordinate, stop and look around before you check the sides and backs of the rocks.
- 6
Hold the switch down (it is not a toggle)
This is a hold-down switch - let go and it cuts out. While it is held, the crate opens far away and your teammate waiting beside it takes the gourd. Only release once it is collected.
Where it goes wrong
These are the questions real players search for most. Working through them in order usually finds the cause.
After finishing:1 green tower part - once the green tower has 5 you can trade for the green key and start the chairlift.

Where this solution came from
The way of reading coordinates is stated identically by allthings.how, bizznerd and bigwalkguide.com. The hold-down switch plus one player guarding the crate is confirmed by allthings.how, games.gg's Chinese guide and MonkeyKingHero's gameplay video. All three put the target in the south-centre by the red train line.
Puzzles in this game are not assigned in a fixed order: most of them reward the same generic red gourd, so you can clear any set of challenges around a tower. That is why two guides list different puzzle line-ups for the same tower — neither is wrong. Unless a coordinate is credited to a named source it is a community measurement, and later versions can shift it; once you are in the area, trust the landmark over the number.
